The Daughter's Outlook (Lisa)
I have been an animal crazy person from day one (or very nearly so). My Mom’s favorite story is about the time I crawled (couldn’t walk yet) into a dog pen and was sitting under a mean bulldog’s belly (tickling him) while he growled at my Mom. I wouldn’t budge until she bribed me with cookies.
My parents acquiesced and purchased my first dog, Jingles, when I was about 4 and I started horseback riding lessons when I was in 3rd grade. I managed to convince my parent’s I “needed” a horse by the time I was 11. I was blessed by the presence of Smokey (Tango’s Smokey was his registered name) in my life for 27 years, and he’s still the standard by which I measure all horses! I currently have two beautiful horses (Star- a Tennessee Walker mare, and Cobalt- an Appendix Quarter Horse gelding), an adorable donkey (Poco), two loving dogs (Skipper and Gilligan) and assorted, spoiled, barn cats. I laugh when I go buy cat food for the 4-8 cats I feed…I feel compelled to explain I AM NOT a “crazy cat lady”, but that I
just feed a number of hungry barn cats!
Be it a friend, or hired (or professional) pet sitter, you just never know if they are going to remember to care for your animals…I’ve had it happen even with people I trust. When I go out, I tend to worry about my critters (albeit most of the time for no reason at all). I love having the reassurance that PETZcheckIN® brings (I am a subscriber!); it gives me the freedom to enjoy the moment, knowing my loved animals have been cared for, and are happy. I hope you find the same sense of contentment!
Let me know what you think about the site, and how we can improve it to meet your pet’s needs! And tell me all about your critters…I’d love to hear!
Mom's Comments (Ruth)
For whatever reason, my daughter has loved animals from birth and actually seems to have a built in magnet for them. Since I love my daughter, I have had to “love” her animals and care for them on many occasions.
Animals do not always have a large monetary value (some do) but the value is in the love they give you without asking for anything but your care. The caretakers that were hired over the years always seem trustworthy but did not always show up on time or did they show up at all? I hate to admit it, but I have forgotten to feed or let her animals out at times, fortunately, I usually remember before the day is gone. I need the PETZcheckIN® reminder program.
What a great idea to now be able to assure that your PETS and HOME are being cared for and to even have a backup plan! You can concentrate on your business, your evening out or your vacation.
Dad's Words (Jim)
As a former teacher and football coach, and later a businessman in charge of sever
al thousand employees, I developed a keen awareness of the needs of employees and their families. For a PETparent to be productive at work or especially while traveling, they need the peace of mind that "things are okay at home."
So, I encouraged Lisa to begin the development of the idea, the intellectual property and the software. Lisa prevailed upon me for assistance in the development of the business plan and the financing, and thus began another chapter in my business life!
It's an opportunity to directly help my wife and daughter with the experience acquired in 40 years of management. I relish that!
OUR MANAGEMENT STAFF:
Mike's Musings
I started my first business as a teenager (no, not a lemonade stand) and have since been instrumental in the development of several successful enterprises.
In response to a growing need for diverse and effective employee training, I established Threshold Computer Solutions, inc. As president of this small, local company, I used Internet technology to develop and deliver employee training for organizations as large and diverse as HP, Level (3) Communications, and the State of Wyoming.
I first heard Lisa’s concept for checkingIN™ in early 2008, and liked the idea so much that I began working with the team as a consultant, then an employee, then an investor.
My varied business background and deep involvement with Internet technology has proven to be a good fit for the then fledgling company. Working hand in hand with this visionary, enthusiastic, hard-working and fun team is a wonderful experience. It is a privilege to be a part of an endeavor that will help so many people using the latest technology.
